Tournament Information

General Information

 

Registration on arrival is not required. Please come to Fyson Blum Hall when you arrive - this will be where parents can base themselves for the day and where you will find our cafeteria. Children will be directed to the playing areas in time for the first round.

 

Welcome at 09:20 on Saturday 7th October from IM Andrew Martin.

 

Prize Giving 17:30 or later on Saturday 7th October (U7 event only) and Sunday 8th October (all other events). Attendance at Prize Giving compulsory for all winners. No prizes will be sent out after the event.

 

Round Times

 

Under 7 - Saturday only

Round Times:

Saturday            10:00, 11:10, 12:20, 13:50, 15:00, 16:10

Time control:    All moves in 30 minutes

 

Under 8 - Sunday only

Round Times:

Sunday              10:00, 11:10, 12:20, 13:50, 15:00, 16:10

Time control:    All moves in 30 minutes

 

Under 9 & Under 10

Round Times:

Saturday            9:30, 12:20, 15:10

Sunday              9:30, 12:20, 15:10

Time control:    60 minutes plus 10 second increment per move

 

Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 & Under 18

Round Times:

Saturday            9:30, 13:00, 16:30

Sunday              10:00, 13:30

Time control:    80 minutes plus 10 second increment per move

 

Tiebreaks (for trophies only): 1. Sum of Progressives. 2. Sum of Opponents.

FIDE rules are followed in calculating tiebreaks.

U7 - Year 2 and below *as at the Congress date*

Entry Fees & Prizes

 

U7, U8:

Entry Fee: £22 / £20 for ECF members

Trophy prizes for first four places

 

U9, U10:

Entry Fee: £28 / £26 for ECF members

Prizes: 1st £60, 2nd £40, 3rd £25, 4th £15

 

U11, U13, U15, U18:

Entry fee: £28 / £26 for ECF members

Prizes: 1st £150, 2nd £100, 3rd £60, 4th £30

 

We reserve the right to reduce/increase prizes according to entry numbers.

 

Registrations must be received by 7pm on Thursday 5th October 2023.  No registrations accepted on the day.

 

Early entry is strongly advised. We have limited space and will close entries once we reach capacity.

 

A Best Girl trophy will be awarded in every age section

 

The Under 11 tournament is a Qualifier for the National Chess Junior Squad Trials (Years 5 and 6 only)

 

The Under 13 and Under 15 sections offer half-norm opportunities to join the National Chess Junior Squad (Years 7 and above only)

 

All events are ECF rated

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT NO REFUNDS CAN BE GIVEN IF YOU FIND YOU CANNOT ATTEND ONCE ENTERED.

Bookstall

 

Once again we will have a bookstall available throughout the event run by Tim Onions.  Tim stocks chess sets and equipment, books and tournament stationery . He specialises in books and supplies for the younger chess player.

Information supplied on the registration form may be held on a computer for the purpose of national rating, plus selected games and photographs of the event may be used to publicise this and future events.

Your email address will be used solely for the purposes of sending information about this event.

It is a condition of entry that players agree to the above and to their rating information being published on this and the ECF websites.
